Assist Ellendale (75) on a Field Fire

Just prior to the 3 o'clock hour, Sussex County EOC alerted Ellendale (75) for a outside fire in the area of North Old State Rd. & Haflinger Rd. Ellendale units were just clearing another alarm and responded immediately. Just at Ellendale units were observing a header of smoke from the area, Sussex advised them they were taking several calls for the fire, and that Milton (85) had advised they had an engine crew in quarters. Asst. Chief Foster (75-16) immediately requested a response from Milton, plus a brush piece and tanker from Carlisle (42). As 75 units arrived, they found a large field on fire extending to a hedge row and an additional field. Multiple other resources were requested by Command. Milton responded with an Engine, Tanker, and Brush unit and assisted where needed on the fire scene. Additional crews in Milton responded to a gas leak on Palmer St. as well. Milton Units Responding, Engine 4, Tanker 85, Brush 85-00.

Tour, Wilson Baker Petrolum

Tonight, crews from Milton, along with Ellendale, Georgetown, and Slaughter Beach took a tour of the Wilson Baker facility on Gravel Hill Rd. Crews surveyed the facility, alarm, and fire protection systems, to be better prepared for any alarms at the facility. Thank you to the surrounding departments for participating in this training.

Live Fire Training

Duty Crew

Tonight, duty crew members staffed the station from 1800 until 2400 hours. Crews completed RIT and search and rescue training in an abandoned home we have obtained for training and an control burn.

Minor MVC

September 29, 2019

Just after the 3 o'clock hour, Station 85 was alerted for a MVC with injuries at Milton-Ellendale Hwy. & Mulberry St. Ambulance 85 arrived a short time later to find a two vehicle MVC with two patients. Ambulance 85 requested an additional BLS unit bringing A-75 (Ellendale) to the scene. Engine-Tanker 85-2 arrived next and crews split to secure the vehicles and assist EMS as needed. Ambulance 85 transported one to Beebe while A-75 obtained a patient refusal. Fire police controlled traffic throughout the incident. Units responding, A-85, Engine-Tanker 2, Rescue 85, Engine 4, A-75, DSFP, Milton Police Department.

Vehile Accident

September 20, 2019

This evening Station 85 was alerted for a vehicle accident at Broadkill Rd & Country Rd. 852 responded and found two vehicles off the roadway. A-85 handled one patient refusal and transported one patient to BMC. Command placed the situation under control and turned the scene over to DSP.

Ladies Aux. President, Sworn in and County President

Milton Ladies Aux. President Mary Ann Warrington was sworn in tonight as the President of the Sussex County Volunteer Firefighters Association. Mary Ann has been the backbone of the Milton Ladies Aux. overseeing countless events and fundraisers. When you see Mary Ann around town, take time to stop and congratulate her.

Duty Crew Training

Today, a duty crew staffed the Station from 0800 until 1500 hours. Members of the duty crew completed training on various well and irrigation supply systems within our first due area, as well as checked some building construction in our first due area. Thanks to all the members who participated.

Brush 85-00 Covers at Indian River

September 14, 2019

Tonight, Milton sent Brush 85-00 and a two man crew to assist Indian River Fire Co. (80) with a standby at the fireworks, and the Paradise Grill, in the Pot Nets Bayside Community. Brush 85 remained in Long Neck for about 3 and a half hours. We would like to thank Station 80 for the invite.

Sam Argo and William Powers Jr. achieve 50 years of Service

Today, the Delaware Fire Service honored Sammy Argo and William Powers Jr. with 50 years of service to the citizens of Delaware. The awards were given at the annual Delaware Vol. Fire Service conference in Dover. The officers and members of the Milton Fire Department would like to congratulate Sammy and Jr on this accomplishment, and thank them for their years of dedicated service. Jr. was unable to attend the event today, but President Hopkins received the award on his behalf.

Structural Firefighting Evolutions

Tonight, crews from Milton were joined by our neighbors from the north (Memorial Fire Company of Slaughter Beach) to participate in structural firefighting evolutions. Crews come to the Georgetown center several times a year, both alone, and with surrounding companies to train and hone our firefighting skills.

Motor Vehicle Accident

September 06, 2019

At 1529, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for a Motor Vehicle Accident on Lewes-Georgetown Hwy., just east of Harbeson. A-85 and Engine-Tanker 85-2 arrived to find a three vehilce MVC with all occupants out of the vehicle with minor injuries. Crews from the Engine-Tanker and Rescue secured the vehicles and cleaned up debris. Georgetown EMS assisted with an amblance. Ambulance 85 transported a patient to Beebe while Ambulance 93 obtained refusals. Rt. 9 was shut down for a brief period while crews cleared the scene. Chief Harvey (85-15) had the Command. Units responding, Engine-Tanker 2, Rescue 85, A-85, D-93, 85-8, DSP, DSFP.

Wounded Warrior Run

Today, Ladder 85 attended the annual Wounded Warrior Run at Delaware Technical and Community College. We assisted Ladder 77 (Georgetown) with the flag display.

MVC with Entrapment

At 1703 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 along with Ambulance 93, Medic 108, and Trooper 2 for a MVC with entrapment at the intersection of Gravel Hill Rd & Shingle Point Rd. Chief Harvey arrived first in 85 Command to find a two vehicle accident with two patients, and one was trapped. Engine-Tanker 85-2 arrived at 1713, stabilized the vehicle, and began extrication. Rescue 85 arrived a short time later and assisted with extrication. Crews made quick work of the cut job, extricating the patient in 6 minutes. Ambulance 85 and 93 both transported patients to Beebe. The intersection was shut down for a short time while crews cleaned up and DSP investigated. Chief Harvey has 85 Command. Units responding, Engine-Tanker 85-2, Rescue 85, Engine 5, A-85, C-93, 85-8, DSP, DSFP, Milton PD, Medic 108, Trooper 2.
