Vehicle Accident

January 01, 2022

Just prior to the 8 o'clock hours, Station 85 was alerted for a vehicle accident with possible entrapment at the intersection of Lewes-Georgetown Hwy. & Hudson Rd. Captain Matt Cranford (85-21) who lives nearby arrived on scene within a minute to find a two vehicle accident with one patient heavily entrapped. Captain Cranford established command and requested an additional rescue company from Lewes Fire Dept. (82). Crews from Milton and Lewes extricated the patient to awaiting EMS providers at 0808 hours. Two patients were transported to Beebe Hospital. Crews remained on scene a short time assisting DSP with traffic and their investigation. Units responding, 85-21, Engines 85-4, 85-5, Rescue 85, 85-00, A-85, Engines 82-2, 82-9, Rescue 82, D-82, D-93, Medic 111, 104, EMS-100, DSP, DSFP, Milton Pd.

MVC with Entrapment

December 27, 2021

At 0739 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for a MVC at the intersection of Rt. 1 and Rt. 16. Engine 85-4 and 85-8 responded within 3 minutes. Initial reports advised the accident was initially property damage only, but there is now someone who wants to be checked out. While responding, Sussex EOC advised DSP was on scene reporting one person trapped. Based on the report, Asst. Chief Millman (in 85-8) requested an additional Rescue from Sta. 82. Engine 4, 85-00 and 85-8 arrived to find a two vehicle MVC with one trapped. Engine 4s crew extricated the patient within two minutes of arrival and the 82 units were cancelled. B-85 along with Medic 111 transported one patient to Beebe. Units responding, Engine 4, Brush 85, Rescue 85, 85-8, B-85, DSFP, DSP.

County Bank Donation

Outbuilding Fire

December 06, 2021

Just after lunch time, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 along with Ellendale (75), Lewes (82), and Memorial of Slaughter Beach (89) for an outbuilding on fire on Dunstan Ct. in Grants Way. Asst. Chief Millman (85-18) arrived to find a 12 x 20 shed with smoke showing. Engine-Tanker 85-2 arrived next and placed a crosslay in-service for extinguishment. Ladder 85 and 82-2 arrived next and assisted crews with extinguishment and overhaul. Crews remained on scene a short time before turning the scene over to the Fire Marshall. Units responding, 85-8, 85-2, Ladder 85, B-85, 82-2, 82-1, 75-3, 75-4, 89-5, Tanker 89, Medic 104, DSFP

Motor Vehicle Accident

December 04, 2021

At 1327, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85, Medic 111 and 208, and Trooper 2 for a MVC on Gravel Hill Rd. north of Webb Rd. Asst. Chief Millman (85-18) arrived on scene POV to find a pickup that struck a guard rail, then flipped into a pole bringing down several electric wires. B-85 arrived and treated a single patient who was out of the vehicle. Delaware Electric arrived and secured the electric to the downed wires, and the crew from Engine 85-4 and Rescue 85 secured the vehicle. B-85 transported ALS to Beebe, the fire units cleared a short time later.

Cape Henlopen Lady Vikings, State Field Hockey Champs

Today, the members of Milton and Lewes Fire Co. had the pleasure and honor to escort the new 2021 State Field Hockey Champions, the Lady Vikings, back to school from their victory. Congrats ladies, as always, its a pleasure.

Motor Vehicle Accident

November 18, 2021

Today, just after lunch, Station 85 was alerted for a vehicle accident in the area of the Quick Stop on Rt. 16. A-85 arrived on scene minutes after dispatch and confirmed two patients with one trapped in the vehicle. With that report, Sussex EOC alerted Ellendale Fire Co. (75) for an ambulance along with Medic 101, 111, and Trooper 2. Engine 85-5 arrived shortly after and began extrication. B-75 arrived and transported a BLS patient to Bayhealth Sussex. Crews from Engine 5 and the Rescue had the patient extricated within 6 minutes and transferred to the EMS crew for patient care. The patient was transported to CER by Trooper 2. Chief Hopkins had Command. Units responding, Engine 5, Rescue 85, Brush 85, A-85, B-75, Medic 111, 101, Trooper 2, DSFP, Milton Police.

Joint Training w/ Station 82

November 16, 2021

Tonight, crews from Milton were invited to train with the brothers and sisters from Lewes. Crews trained on commercial vehicle vs cars. Crews had a great time.

Dixie Betts Repast

Today, the Milton Fire Department Ladies Aux. catered a repast in loving memory of Mrs. Dixie Betts, a Life Member of the organization. A huge thank you to all those members who contributed to make the gathering of family and friends special for those that came together to fellowship and comfort each other during this time of mourning.

Outside Fire

November 14, 2021

Today, Station 85 was alerted for an outside fire. Asst. Chief Millman arrived on scene to find a large mulch pile smoldering. Crews extinguished the visible fire and advised the contractor to respond to pull the pile apart and extinguish the rest. Units responding Engine 4, Engine-Tanker 2, Tanker 85, Brush 85, DSFP.

Residential Fire

November 13, 2021

This morning 684’s bravest assisted Lewes Fire on a working house fire. First arriving crews found a well advanced fire in the attic and 2nd floor areas. Milton crews operated on scene for approximately 2.5 hours before returning to service. This is the 2nd working fire of the week for the men of Milton.

Tonight, the Milton Theatre presented Chief Hopkins and Asst. Chief Millman a check for the Fire Companies support of the Zombie Fest.

Field Fire

November 06, 2021

Just after 1330, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for a field fire on Deep Branch Rd. & Coastal Hwy, just north of Rt. 16. Engine 85-4 arrived to find a small area of field on fire. Engine 4 and Brush 85 extinguished the same. Chief Hopkins had the command. Units responding, 85-8, Engine 4, Brush 85, 85-11, DSFP.

MVC with Wires Down

November 05, 2021

Tonight, Milton responded to a minor MVC with wires down. Asst. Chief Millman arrived in 85-8 to find a tractor trailer that pulled down wires in the area. Chief Millman confirmed no patient and that the wires were cable wires. Crews removed the wires from the vehicle and cleared the roadway. Scene was turned over to Milton Pd. Units responding, 85-8, Brush-85, DSFP, Milton Pd.

Fire Prevention

Today, members completed fire prevention for Milton Elementary School.
