Residential Fire

December 13, 2020

At 0339 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Sta. 85 for a vehicle fire at 20360 Harbeson Rd. 85 Command responded with Asst. Chief Reynolds and was advised the caller stated a vehicle was on fire with exposure to a home. Command arrived minutes later and confirmed a vehicle well off with extension to and attached garage. The call was upgraded to a residential structure fire and Lewes and Indian River Fire Companies were alerted to assist. Engine Tanker 85-2 arrived just behind Command and deployed the front “Kentland” lay and knocked down the bulk of the fire in a few minutes. Command scaled the response back to just the Milton units. 85 units remained on scene for an hour completing overhaul. Units responding 85-2, 85-4, Tanker 85, Ladder 85, A-85, 82-1, 80-3, DSFP.

Cape Henlopen Girls State Field Hockey Champs

Tonight, crews from Milton, Lewes, and Rehoboth had the honor of escorting the 2020 Girls State Field Hockey Champs back into the Lewes local from their win. Congrats Cape Girls Field Hockey.

Standby Station 77 Georgetown

Crew from Sta. 85 provided an engine cover up to Sta. 77 (Georgetown) while they attended a members funeral service.

Barn Fire

December 11, 2020

Crews from Station 85 handled a barn fire in the Harbeson area. Crews arrived to find a small section of hay that had been extinguished by the farmer. Crews wet the area down and checked for extension. The farmer believes one of their sheep knocked over a heat lamp. Engine-tanker 2 and Engine 4 made the response. Deputy Chief Hopkins had 85 Command.

Commercial Strucutre Fire

Today Milton units assisted Sta. 77 (Georgetown) on a commercial structure fire at the Beebe Health Center on Biden Av. Crews worked for around an hour before being released.

Lifesaving Award

December 07, 2020

On December 7, 2020, the Milton Police Department had the honor and privilege of presenting the Lifesaving Award to Randall Preston at the Milton Town Council Meeting. Chief Derrick Harvey of the Milton Police Department and the Milton Fire Department, addressed the heroic actions of Mr. Preston who selflessly and without hesitation responded to a cry for help. Mr. Preston was outside of his residence when he heard the cry and then observed a capsized kayak. He instantly responded to the capsized boater in the frigid cold water and brought him safely to the shore. Once on shore the boater was transported into the Milton Fire Department ambulance for treatment.

A few members went out to the Broadkill area to pre plan water supply operations for any potential fires in the area.

Milton units handled a MVC on Boradkill Rd in the area of the Cheer Center. Ambulance B-85 transported two patients to BMC. Deputy Chief Hopkins commanded the incident.

Yesterday at 15:16 hours Milton units were dispatched for an MVC at Reynolds Pond Rd & Isaacs Rd. Units arrived to find two vehciles off the roadway with an unknown substance spilled in the grass. 85 command requested DNREC to respond along with Hazmat-83 for the 150 gallons of asphalt sealer that was spilled. One patient was transported to BMC. All units cleared. B-85, 85-4, R-85, DNREC, Hazmat-83, DSFP, MPR, DSP all made the repsonse.
