Appliance Fire

June 17, 2020

Just after 8 o'clock, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for a structure fire on Rudder Rd, in the Shipbuilders Village development. Engine-Tanker 85-2, under the direction of Captain Windsor, arrived a short time after dispatch to find a multi family structure with an appliance fire. The crew from the Engine-Tanker quickly knocked the fire with a water can. Ladder 85 arrived next and set up while the crew checked for extension. Asst. Chief Dotterer arrived a short time later and assumed Command, holding the response to the units on scene. Units cleared the building and cleared a short time later. Units responding, Engine-Tanker 85-2, Ladder 85, 85-8, B-85, DSFP.

MVC with Ejection

June 13, 2020

Just after the 10 o'clock hour, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85, Sussex County EMS, and DSP Trooper 2 for a motor vehicle accident with possible ejection, on Carpenter Rd. in the area of the Carpenter Farm. Engine-Tanker 85-2, 85-8, and B-85 arrived nearly simultaneously to find a vehicle overturned with the driver laying next to the vehicle. Crews from the Engine-Tanker and assisted EMS with packaging the patient and also secured the vehicle. Medic B-85 transported the patient to Beebe by ground. Firefighter B. Millman, who was riding along with Deputy Chief Hopkins in the buggy had the Command. Units cleared a short time after the ambulance transported. Units responding 85-5, Engine-Tanker 85-2, Rescue 85, B-85, Medic 106, Medic 206, EMS 100, DT 2, DSP, DSFP, MPD.

Camper Fire

June 09, 2020

Just prior to the eight o'clock hour, Sussex County EOC alerted Station 85 for a camper fire on Fisher Rd. just e/o Lewes-Georgetown Hwy. 85-8 with Deputy Chief Hopkins arrived first to find a camper well involved with exposures to a woods. Engine-Tanker 85-2 under the direction or Rescue Lt. Jackson arrived and placed two handlines inservice, one to extinguish the fire, and one to protect exposures. Engine 4 arrived and placed an additional handline inservice to assist with extinguishment. Tanker 85 and Engine 85-5 provided water supply throughout the incident. Deputy Chief Hopkins placed the scene under control a short time later and units cleared when ready. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshals Office. Units responding Engine-Tanker 85-2, Engines 85-4, 85-5, Tanker 85, Rescue 85, 85-00, 85-5, B-85, DSFP, DSFM.

Cover Rehoboth Station 2

June 03, 2020

Just after midnight, Station 85 was alerted to cover Lewes Station 2 as they assisted Rehoboth Beach Fire Co. on a building fire. While enroute, Engine-Tanker 85-2 was diverted to a fire alarm activation on Coastal Hwy. at the Achorage Motel. Crews checked that and determined it was a result of the initial working fire around the corner. Crews then proceeded to Rehoboth Station to coverup. Crews remained in Rehoboth until around 0400.

Assist 82, Structure Fire

June 01, 2020

At 0444, Milton was alerted as part of the box for a house fire on Lewes-Georgetown Hwy. in the "Cool Spring" area. Engine-Tanker 85-2 responded and arrived as the second due engine. Crews were tasked with pulling additional lines and assisting the Lewes crew with extinguishment. Ladder 85, Tanker 85, and Engine 85-4 also made the response. Crews remained on scene assisted the Lewes crews for a few hours.

House Fire

May 15, 2020

Today, the Sussex EOC alerted Georgetown (77), Station 85, and Lewes (82) for a house fire on Gravel Hill Rd. in the area of Shingle Point Rd. First arriving officer (77-15) arrived to find wires burning on the rear of the home. Engine-Tanker 85-2 arrived next and went to work checking the home for extension. Ladder 85 and 77-4 arrived next and assisted the crew of 85-2. Command placed the situation under control and scaled the assignment back to 85-2, Ladder 85, and 77-4 for a short time before clearing all units. Units responding, ET 85-2, Ladder 85, E 85-4, Tanker 85, Rescue 85, 77 fire units, 82 fire units, DSFP.

Driver / Ladder Training

Today, a few members took advantage of the nice weather and completed some driver training on 85-5 and Ladder 85.

Girl Scouts Donate Cookies

Today, some of the local girl scouts stopped by to donate cookies to the firefighters and EMTs working. The officers and members thank you for thinking of us.

Milton crews have been busy with birthday runs during the COVID pandemic. Crews have been well received and everyone seems to be having a great time despite the circumstances. Quick Training

April 25, 2020

Today after several members completed a birthday run, the Deputy Chief and Training Officers took advantage of the nice weather to hold a quick drafting drill. Several new driver trainees were present as well as some drivers with a few years in. Crews practiced drafting with the Engine-Tanker and Engine 4. Thanks to those who attended.

Vehile Accident With Entrapment

April 11, 2020

Today just before 11:00 Sta. 85 was alerted for a vehicle accident with entrapment in the area of Gravel Hill Rd & Sand Hill Rd. 85-15 arrived to find a single vehicle on its side with one subject confined to the vehicle. 854, and Rescue 85 arrived next and made quick work extricating the subject in six minutes. The patient was transported to a near by hospital shortly after. Units responding were 85-15, 854, R85, 855, A85, DT2, SCEMS, DSFP, MPD, DSP.

MVC with Injuries

April 10, 2020

Just prior to the 12 o'clock hour, Station 85 was alerted along with Medic 111 for a motor vehicle accident in the area of 513 Union St. Engine 85-4 responded and arrived on scene two minutes after dispatch to find a single vehicle off the roadway into a fence. Medic 111 evaluated a single patient who was eventually transported to Bayhealth Sussex by Ambulance 75 (Ellendale). The scene was placed under control and all units cleared. Lt. Crawford had 85 Command. Units responding Engine 4, Rescue 85, Ambulance 75, Medic 111, Medic 201, MPD, DSFP.

MVC with Roll Over

April 10, 2020

Just after 1600, Station 85 was alerted for a MVC at the intersection of Cedar Creek Rd. & Iaasc's Rd. Ambulance 85, Engine 85-4 and Rescue 85 made the response. While responding, Chief Harvey (85-15) arrived and reported a vehicle overturned with no entrapment and held the response to Engine 4 and the Ambulance. Engine 4 arrived and secured the vehicle and completed minor debris cleanup. Ambulance 85 obtained a refusal and units cleared turning the scene over to DSP. Units responding, Ambulance 85, Engine 4, Rescue 85, DSP, DSFP, MPD.
