Vehile Accident with Entrapment

October 25, 2019

Just after the 1 o’clock hour Sta. 85 and mutual aid departments were dispatched for a vehicle accident with entrapment at Sand Hill Rd, and Gravel Hill Rd. 85-15 Chief Harvey arrived and confirmed one patient trapped. Engine two arrived and made quick work extricating the patient in four minutes. Command placed the situation under control and all units went available. Units responding were 85-15, A-85, B-75, C-93, SCEMS, DT2, 852, R85, MPD, DSP, and DSFP.

Vehile Accident

This morning before lunchtime Sta. 85 was alerted for a vehicle accident at Lewes Georgetown Hwy & Hudson Rd. 852 responded and arrived to find two vehicles in the roadway. A-85, E-82, and D-82 transported three patients to Beebe Medical. Situation was placed under control and all units returned.

MVC with Wires Down

October 20, 2019

Just prior to the 3 o'clock hour, Station 85 along with an ambulance from Ellendale (75) were alerted for a motor vehicle accident on Gravel Hill Rd. in the area of Sunny Sky Blvd. Engine-Tanker 85-2 responded in minutes and arrived to find a single vehicle in a field with a pole and wires down. Crews made contact with the patient who was refusing transport. Ambulance 85 arrived and assessed the patient while Ambulance 75 stoodby. Crews secured the vehicle, contacted the power company, and cleared the scene. Units responding, 85-2, 85-5, Rescue 85, A-85, B-75, DSP, DSFP, Milton Pd., DELDOT, Delaware Electric.

Multi Residential Fire

October 18, 2019

Just after 1 AM, Station 85 was alerted for a cover assignment to Lewes while they operated at a building fire at the Beach Haven condos in Rehoboth. Shortly after responding, Engine-Tanker 85-2 was diverted in to the scene for additional manpower. Once on scene, Milton crews assisted other crews on scene with extinguishment. Milton crews operated for approx. 2 hours before returning to Milton.

Fire Prevention

October 17, 2019

Today, children from HO Brittingham School came to the fire house to learn about fire safety and fire prevention. When class was complete, the children were given a firetruck ride back to school.

MVC with Injuries

October 16, 2019

Just prior to lunch time, Station 85 along with Medic 104 (Sussex County EMS) were alerted for a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Coastal Highway and Prime Hook Rd. Ambulance 85 and Engine-Tanker 85-2 responded and arrived a short time later to find a two vehicle MVC. The Engine Tanker crew assisted by the Rescue crew secured both vehicles and removed debris from the roadway, Ambulance 85 transported a BLS patient to Bayhealth Sussex for evaluation. Asst. Chief Clendaniel had the command. Units responding, A-85, Engine-Tanker 85-2, Rescue 85, Medic 104 (cancelled), DSP, DSFP.

2nd MVC in a Week

October 15, 2019

At 1327 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for a MVC at the intersection of Gravel Hill Rd. and Sand Hill Rd. Ambulance 85 arrived first, followed closely by the Engine Tanker, finding a three vehicle accident involving two tractor trailers and a large debris area in the intersection. Ambulance 85s crew checked all the drivers and occupants finding only minor injuries with all refusing transport to the hospital. The Engine Tanker and Rescue crew remained on scene securing all the vehicles and removing debris from the roadway with the assistance of DELDOT. Deputy Chief Hopkins had the command. Units responding, A-85, Engine Tanker 85-2, Rescue 85, DSP, DSFP, DELDOT.

Motor Vehicle Accident

October 10, 2019

Just after the 7 o'clock hours, Statin 85 was alerted for a Motor Vehicle Accident on Rt. 1 north of Rt. 16. Milton units responded to find a minor accident. Crews secured vehicles and removed debris. One patient was transported to evaluation. Deputy Chief Hopkins had command. Units responding, ET-2, A-85, DSP, DSFP.

Sussex County 911 Day

October 10, 2019

Today, members participated in Sussex County 911 Day in Georgetown. Members showed approx. 1500 children from various schools and from around the community, our Engine-Tanker and various firefighting equipment that we carry. We would like to thank the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center for the invite. We hope to see you next year.

MVC with Injuries

At 1545 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Gravel Hill Rd. & Sand Hill Rd. Chief Harvey (85-15) arrived on scene within minutes to find a two vehicle MVC with three patients. Chief Harvey immediately requested ALS and additional ambulances. Engine Tanker 85-2 arrived and were tasked with securing the vehicles, debris clean up, and assisting BLS providers with patient care and packaging. Ambulances 85, 75, and 93 all transported patients to Beebe. The intersection remained closed for a brief period while DSP investigated and cleared the scene. Units responding, ET-2, Rescue 85, A-85, B-75, C-93, Medic 108, 101, EMS 200, 85-15, DSP, DSFP, Milton PD.

Assist Ellendale (75) on a Field Fire

October 02, 2019

Just prior to the 3 o'clock hour, Sussex County EOC alerted Ellendale (75) for a outside fire in the area of North Old State Rd. & Haflinger Rd. Ellendale units were just clearing another alarm and responded immediately. Just at Ellendale units were observing a header of smoke from the area, Sussex advised them they were taking several calls for the fire, and that Milton (85) had advised they had an engine crew in quarters. Asst. Chief Foster (75-16) immediately requested a response from Milton, plus a brush piece and tanker from Carlisle (42). As 75 units arrived, they found a large field on fire extending to a hedge row and an additional field. Multiple other resources were requested by Command. Milton responded with an Engine, Tanker, and Brush unit and assisted where needed on the fire scene. Additional crews in Milton responded to a gas leak on Palmer St. as well. Milton Units Responding, Engine 4, Tanker 85, Brush 85-00.

Tour, Wilson Baker Petrolum

October 02, 2019

Tonight, crews from Milton, along with Ellendale, Georgetown, and Slaughter Beach took a tour of the Wilson Baker facility on Gravel Hill Rd. Crews surveyed the facility, alarm, and fire protection systems, to be better prepared for any alarms at the facility. Thank you to the surrounding departments for participating in this training.

Duty Crew

Tonight, duty crew members staffed the station from 1800 until 2400 hours. Crews completed RIT and search and rescue training in an abandoned home we have obtained for training and an control burn.
