Second MVC of the Morning

August 21, 2019

Just after returning to quarters from the first accident, Milton was again alerted for an accident on Mulberry St. in the area of HOB school. Crews made the response to find a minor accident. Crews secured the vehicles and turned the scene over to Milton Pd. Asst. Chief Reynolds had 85 Command.

MVC with Roll Over

August 20, 2019

At 1513 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 and Medic 101 for a MVC with roll over on Coastal Hwy. in the area of Sylvan Acres Rd. Engine-Tanker 85-2 arrived a short time after dispatche to find a single vehicle rolled over with two patients with minor injuries. Ambulance 85 and Medic 101 treated two patients and transported to Beebe. Engine-Tanker 2 and Rescue 85 secured the vehicle and stood by until the tow company was able to upright the vehicle. Fire police maintained a single lane of traffic throughout the incident. Firefighter Bailey Millman had the Command.

Milton Assists Georgetown

August 17, 2019

Today, while on the way to a prearranged standby in Seaford, Georgetown (77) was alerted for a MVC on DuPont Blvd in the area of Burger King. Engine 85-2 was a quarter mile away at the Walmart light and requested permission to make the response. Sussex granted the request and 85-2 arrived to find a three vehicle MVC with one patient. Crews stabilized the vehicles and completed debris cleanup. A-75 also responded and obtained a refusal. Per Deputy Chief Rogers, FF B. Millman had Dupont Blvd command. Command held the response to 85-2, freeing up Georgetown units to respond to another serious MVC in their district.

MVC Vehicle Into Building

August 17, 2019

Just after the 3 o'clock hour, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for a motor vehicle accident on Harbeson Rd. in the area of Chestnut St. Ambuance 85 and Engine-Tanker 85-2 arrived on scene to find a SUV that drove through a building with one occupant out of the vehicle. Crews from Ambulance 85 assessed the patient and obtained a refusal. Crews from the Engine-Tanker and Rescue secured the vehicle and the building and turned the scene over to DSP and Milton PD. Asst. Chief Dotterer had 85 Command. Units responding, ET-2, Rescue 85, B-85, DSFP, Milton PD, DSP.

Assist 77 on a Structure Fire

August 17, 2019

Just after 1100 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Georgetown (77), Ellendale (75), Station 85, Ambuloance 93, and Sussex County EMS for a house fire on N. Race St. in Georgetown. Engine 77-4 and Ladder 77 responded and arrived on scene a short time later to find a two story home with smoke showing. Georgetown's crews made quick work of the fire stopping it in its early stages. Crews from Milton and Ellendale arrived a short time after and assisted Georgetown with searches and overhaul. Milton units responding, Engine-Tanker 85-2, Engine 85-5, Ladder 85, Rescue 85.

Duty Crew

8/14/2019 members held a duty crew. One engine was staffed until 0600 hrs the next morning. Crews completed vehicle rescue training. Members also attended the new Royal Farms soft opening on Lewes Georgetown Hwy. Thanks Royal Farms for the support and inviting us out. Thanks to the members participating.

Construction Starts on Station 85

Today, construction started on the expansion and rehabilitation project on our fire house. Check back for pictures of the progress. The project is expected to take a little over a year.

Multi Residential Fire

August 10, 2019

Today at 15:53 Sussex EOC alerted Sta. 85 for an appliance fire in Shipbuilders Village. Engine Tanker 852 responded under the direction of LT J. Windsor, and arrived to find smoke showing from the front door. LT Windsor immediately requested the box alarm, alerting Sta. 77 (Georgetown), and Sta. 75 (Ellendale). Chief Harvey arrived and established 85 command. Crews from engine two found a microwave fire on the second floor and extinguished same with a water can. Chief Harvey placed the situation under control and held the response to 85 units. Units responding were 852, 854, L85, 753, B85, 85-15, SCEMS DSFP.

Motor Vehicle Accident

At 1441 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for a MVC at the intersection of Milberry St. and Milton-Ellendale Hwy. Crews arrived to find a three vehicle MVC. Crews from the ambulance checked out the vehicle occupants while the Engine crews secured the vehicles and removed debris from the roadway. Chief Harvey had the Command.

Two Vehicle MVC

August 03, 2019

Just prior to the 11 o'clock hour, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for a MVC at the intersection of Cave Neck Rd. & Hudson Rd. 85 Command responded shortly after dispatched and arrived to find a two vehicle MVC with two patients. Deputy Chief Hopkins immediately requested an additional BLS unit from Lewes Fire Department to respond. Crews from Engine-Tanker 85-2, Engine 5, and the Rescue secured the vehicles and removed debris from the roadway. Crews also assisted the BLS units as needed with loading patients. B-85 and E-82 transported one each to Beebe. Deputy Hopkins placed the scene under control and cleared all units. Units responding, Engine-Tanker 2, Engine 5, Rescue 85, B-85, E-82, DSP, DSFP.

Crews handled a vehicle fire on Coastal Hwy. Chief Harvey had 85 command.

Multi Residential Fire

July 30, 2019

Just before midnight July 30th Milton units were dispatched for an outside fire that was upgraded to a multi residential fire in Shipbuilders Village. Crews found a small fire on the porch area that was quickly extinguished. Deputy Chief Hopkins had 85 command.

Vehile Accident

July 29, 2019

July 29th just after midnight Milton units were dispatched for a vehicle accident over turned with possible entrapment on Chestnut St in town limits. There was one occupant that was pronounced deceased on scene. Deputy Chief Hopkins had 85 Command.
