Milton Fire Co. Attends Halloween Festival

Tonight, members from Station 85 attended the annual Milton Westlyan Church's fall festival. Members showed off Rescue 85 and Engine Tanker 85-2 while passing out fire prevention materials and fire helmets to the kids.

Garage Fire

October 29, 2018

At 2014 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Georgetown (77), Lewes (82) and Station 85 for a garage fire on Shingle Point Rd. just w/o Gravel Hill Rd. Engine-Tanker 85-2 was the first unit to respond under the command of Captain Jay Clark. Sussex EOC reported a single family home with heavy smoke throughout, with possibly a garage and attic fire. 77 Command (Stevenson) arrived and confirmed a single family home with heavy smoke showing. Chief Stevenson advised ET-85-2 to take the driveway and pull an attack line. ET-85-2 arrived and stretched a 250' line to the garage and began extinguishment. A second 150' bumper line was stretched to the front door. Tanker 77 and Ladder 85 arrived next, advancing the second line and completing searches. The three crews made quick work of the fire, holding the additional responding units for overhaul. Units responding; Engine-Taker 85-2, Tanker 77, Engine 77-4, Engine 77-2, Engine 85-4, Engine 85-5, Engine 82-1, Engine 82-9, Ladder 85, Rescue 85, 77 Command, 82-8, Ambulance 93, Medic 108, DFP, DSFM.

Command 85 Returns to Service

After being involved in a vehicle accident, 85 Command has been repaired and has entered service sporting a new paint scheme.

House Fire

September 27, 2018

At 1608, Sussex EOC alerted Milton, Lewes, and Georgetown Fire Departments for a structure fire on Buckskin Trail, in the Beaver Creek development, just south of Harbeson. As units went responding, Sussex advised units of a car on fire inside an attached garage with an occupant refusing to leave the home. Lt. Millman (85-24) was in the area and arrived on scene to find a two story single family home with smoke showing from the garage and a vehicle on fire in the driveway. Lt. Millman confirmed the occupant was out of the residence. Engine-tanker 85-2 arrived and stretched a preconnect mattydelle line to extinguish the car fire. Engine 77-4 and Engine 82-1 arrived next, and sent their crews to check the garage and residence for extension. Once crews confirmed there was no extension, Command scaled the incident back to the first two engines. A-85 and Medic 106 evaluated one patient, who subsequently was transported to Beebe for evaluation. Lt. Millman placed the scene under control and returned the remaining units. Units responding, ET 85-2, E 85-4, E 77-4, ET 77, E 82-3, E 82-1, TC 82, A-85, Medic 106, DSP, DSFP, DSFM, MPD.

Annual Golf Outing

The officers and members of the Milton Fire Co. would like to thank all of the sponsors, and players that attended our annual golf outing today. It was a great success. The committee would also like to thank the volunteer members who took time out of their day to assist with the event. The department would also like to thank Chairman Paul Caras III for all his hard work and dedication organizing the event, and to his committee, Jesse Millman, Leeaynne Stewart, Johny Hopkins, Jim Coulbourne, Paul Caras IV, and Jr. Clark for their hard work. Lastly, we would like to thank the Ladies Auxillary who had several ladies at the event helping out in every way. We look forward to seeing everyone again on September 18, 2019.

Ladies Auxilisary Life Member Patsy Burton Inducted into the Hall of Recognition

Patsy Burton, life member with 45 years of service was inducted into the Hall of Recognition for 2018. Her commitment and untiring efforts have helped keep our auxiliary strong over the past 52 years. As an auxiliary we know that we can always count on her to be there for the auxiliary and her community. Patsy joined the auxiliary in February 1972. By 1977, she accepted the office of Recording secretary for a one-year term. In 1978, she was elected Vice President and held the office for four years before becoming President in 1982. Patsy held the office of President for eight years. During these eight years, our auxiliary grew significantly and we became very active in catering and hosting our bi-annual chicken and dumpling dinners. Patsy was a great leader and very active member and also participated in county and state level meetings throughout the years. Patsy has been active in meetings, functions and every type of fundraiser that we have tried to offer through the auxiliary. She is considered the “resident sweet tea maker” and has it down to a science!! Patsy is a leader, teacher and friend to everyone because she knows how to do everything and is loved by all! Faithful to her auxiliary, town, county and state, Patsy is truly an exemplary member of our organization. Her impact on the Milton Ladies Auxiliary and our community is truly recognized by our memberhip.

Retired Amblance Finds New Life in Nebraska

South Sioux City Fire Department recently purchased our retired Ford Ambulance. This unit served Milton (we purchased used) from 2004 until 2017 when our new Freightliner was placed in-service. South Sioux City is currently using the unit as Medic 3, which is a back up unit to their two front line units.

Motor Vehicle Accident

August 13, 2018

At 1415, Milton units were alerted for a MVC at the intersection of Cedar Creek Rd. & Isaacs Rd. Engine 5 responded and was advised there was a member from 85 on scene advising minor injuries. Crews arrived to find the same. Engine and Rescue 85s crew secured the vehicles, while A-85 treated and transported a single patient. Asst. Chief Clendaniel had 85 Command. Units responding, Engine 5, Rescue 85, A-85, 85-11, DSP, DSFP.

MVC with Injuries

August 12, 2018

At 1656 hours, Milton units were alerted to a MVC at the intersection of Milton-Ellendale Hwy. & Mulberry St. Asst. Chief Clendaniel was in the area and arrived on scene to find a two vehicle MVC. Crews from Engine 2 and Rescue 85 arrived and were assigned to clean up debris and secure both vehicles. Ambulance 85 treated and transported a single patient. Asst. Chief Clendaniel placed the scene under control and cleared all units. Units responding 85-16, Engine-Tanker 2, Rescue 85, 85-11, A-85, DSP, DSFP, MPD.

Ladies Auxillary Attend Burn Camp

Today, members of the Ladies Auxillary attended Burn Camp sponsored by the Fire Marshall's office, held at Camp Barnes. Members of the Auxillary provided lunch for the campers thoughout the day.

Vehicle Accident

August 05, 2018

Just after 1900 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Sta. 85 for a MVC at the intersection of Coastal Hwy (SR 1) and Broadkill Rd. (SR 16). 85-11 responded with Deputy Chief Hopkins as officer. Sussex EOC advised Deputy Chief Hopkins of a two vehicle MVC with multiple patients and advised that Station 82 (Lewes) had been alerted for additional BLS units. Deputy Chief Hopkins arrived to find a two vehicle MVC that was the result of a high speed chase, and assumed 85-Command. Engine-Tanker 85-2 arrived next with Captain Clendaniel as officer. Command assigned 85-2 to check and secure both vehicles. While checking one vehicle, Captain Clendaniel discovered a patient confined in the vehicle in need of a door pop. Crews from 85-2 made quick work, extricating the patient in about a minute. Crews from Rescue 85, and Engine 85-5 assisted with securing the vehicles and debris clean up. In all, ground BLS (A-85, E-82, D-82) transported a total of three patients, while Trooper 2 transported one patient. Command placed the scene under control and returned all units. Units responding, 85-11, Engine-Tanker 85-2, Engine 85-5, Rescue 85, Brush 85-00, A-85, E-82, D-82, A-89, Medic 104, Trooper 2, DSP, DSFP, Milton Pd.

MVC Rollover

July 29, 2018

At 0406, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 and SCEMS Medic 104 for a MVC with rollover on Coastal Hwy & Paynter Rd. 85-11 responded with Lieutenant Millman (85-24) as duty officer. Lt. Millman arrived to find a single vehicle had left the roadway and rolled over in a grassy area on the shoulder, and assumed Coastay Hwy. Command. Command confirmed two patients, both out of the vehicle. A-85 arrived and assessed both patients while Engine 85-5 secured the vehicle. A-85 and Medic 104 obtained one refusal and transported one to MMH. Command placed the situation under control and returned all units. Units responding, 85-11, Engine 85-5, Engine 85-4, Rescue 85, A-85, Medic 104, DSP, DSFP, Milton Pd.

MVC with Multiple Patients

July 28, 2018

On todays date at 2354 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Sta. 85, Ambulance 82 (Lewes), and SCEMS Medic 108 for a MVC on Lewes-Georgetown Hwy., e/o Harbeson Rd. 85-11 responded with Lieutenant Millman as duty officer, and was advised by EOC of a single vehicle accident with possibly two patients. Lieutenant Millman arrived to find two vehicles with heavy damage and assumed 85-Command. Command found a total of five (5) patients on scene and requested two additional BLS. Ambulance 82 arrived and quickly triaged the patients finding one ALS, three BLS patients, and a refusal. Engine 85-5 arrived followed by Rescue-85. Those units were put to work cleaning debris, securing each vehicle, and assisting EMS as needed with patient care. Amblances 82 and 93 both transported one patient while Amblance 91 transported two patients. Command placed the scene under control and turned it over to DSP. Units responding, 85-11, Engine 85-5, Rescue 85, E-82, D-93, C-91, Medic 108, Medic 208, DSP, DSFP, Trooper 2.
