Vehicle Accidnet

November 29, 2018

11/29/18 at 19:00 Sussex EOC alerted Sta. 85 for a vehicle accident at Broadkill Rd & Coastal Hwy. Sussex advised the units the accident was gonna be on Broadkill east of the intersection. 858 arrived to find a vehicle off the roadway into the marsh, and Assist Chief Dotterer assumed command. 852 arrived next and assisted B85 with removing the victim from the vehicle. Situation was placed under control and all units returned when ready. Units responding were 858, B85, 852, 855, R85, SCEMS ME104, DSFP, DSP.

11/28/18 at 18:58 Sussex EOC alerted Sta. 85, Ambulance 82 (Lewes), and SCEMS for a vehicle accident on Lewes Georgetown Hwy. 852 under the direction of Assist Chief Reynolds arrived to find a semi truck vs passenger vehicle. E82 arrived and transported one patient to Bebee Medical center. The situation was placed under control and all units returned when ready. Units responding were E82, SCEMS ME108, 852, R85, DSFP, DSP.

Milton Fire Department has purchased a custom built Horton ambulance to replace our 2008 Road Rescue. The unit is still in the construction phase and will be ready to be picked up just after the first of the year. The new unit will be known as A-85. The unit was sold by Jeff Hill, from Fesco Emergency Vehicle.

Vehicle Accidnet With Entrapment

11/27/18 Sussex EOC alerted Sta. 85 for a vehicle accident with entrapment. Assist Chief Clendaniel responded and confirmed one trapped in the vehicle. 852 arrived and extricated the patient in 5 mins. Units responding were A85, D93, ME108, EM20, DT2, 85-16, 852, R85, DSP, DSFP.

Fire Prevention Awards

Tonight, members from Milton Fire Dept. attended the Sussex County Firefighters Association meeting in Seaford. Tonights meeting was the annual fire prevention awards. This year, Milton had three winners; 6th grade (first place in the Counyt) Carly Favorosio, 7th grade, Gage Joseph, and 8th grade, Aiden Ackaway. Congratulations to the students on their awards.

Commercial Building Fire

11/23/18 at 12:33 Sussex EOC alerted Sta. 77 (Georgetown), Sta. 85, Sta 75 (Ellendale) for a commerical building fire at the Royal Farms on DuPont Blvd. Arriving units found a moderate smoke condition inside and still filling up the store. Both ladder companies investigated the roof and mechanical units to find one malfunctioning. All power and gas was secured, smoke conditions dissipated and used PPV fans to clear out the business.

CO Detector Activation

November 16, 2018

At 2114 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for an AFA in the Cannery Village development in Milton. First responding unit, 85 Command, with Deputy Chief Hopkins, was advised it was possibly a CO detector activation. Command arrived and confirmed nothing evident with a resident advising a CO detector activated. Engine-Tanker 85-2 arrived shortly after and sent their crew in to investigate. Crews from Milton checked the entire home, finding a bad CO meter. 85 units cleared a short time later. Units responding, 85-8, Engine-Tanker 2, Engine 4, Rescue 85, A-85, DSFP.

Hazmat Incident

November 16, 2018

Just before 10 o'clock, after cleared the CO detector activation, Station 85 received a call on the landline reporting an unknown substance coming from the sewer in the Food Lion Shopping Center, in the area of the Chinese Resturant. Engine 85-4 responded under the Command of Captain Clark. Engine 4 arrived to find a grease trap overflowing with a significant amount of grease in the parking lot. After conferring with Milton PD, DNREC, and the business owner, it was decided that the area would be blocked off and the business would have their civilian contractor come pump the system and clean up the lot. 85 units cleared, turning the scene over to Milton PD. Units responding, Engine 4, 85-8, Milton PD.

State Champion Cape Henlopen Field Hockey

November 16, 2018

Tonight, the Cape Henlopen High School Field Hockey team won the State Championship by a score of 5-0. Just after 2300, as their bus approached Milton, the team was greeted by crews from the Lewes, Milton, and Rehoboth Beach fire departments. Our crews escorted the Champions from Milton back to Lewes, ending the trip at the High School. Congratulations ladies, it was an honor to be able to escort you home.

Vehicle Accidnet W/ Entrapment

11-15-18 at 0846 Sussex EOC alerted Sta. 85, SCEMS ME108 for a vehicle accident with rollover. 49-15 (Frederica) arrived to find one patient trapped in the vehicle. 858 arrived, Assistant Chief Clendaniel assumed command. 852 arrived and began the extrication process. The patient was extricated in 10 minutes and was transported to Milford Hospital. Fire units cleared. Units responding A85, A75, ME108, 858, 852, R85. DSFP, DSP, MPD,

Vehicle Accidnet

November 12, 2018

Today just after the 7 o’clock hour, Station 85 and Ellendale EMS were dispatched for a vehicle accident on Gravel Hill Rd. Units arrived to find a 2 vehicle accident with one patient with minor injuries. Engine Tanker 85-2s crew secured the vehicles and removed debris from the roadway. Ambulance 75 transported to Beebe. Lt. Millman had the Command. Delaware State Police are investigating.

Assist Sta. 80, Structure Fire

Just after 2100 hours, Station 85 was alerted to a cover-up at Indian River (80) Station 2 as they were operating at a working building fire on Harvard Lane, behind the Wawa. Soon after responding, Engine-Tanker 85-2, with a crew of 8, was redirected to the scene to assist with fire suppression efforts. Members from Station 85 operated until approx. 0200 hours before being released by Command.

Motor Vehicle Accident

At 0226, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85, Medic 106, and Trooper 2 to a vehicle accident on Harbeson Rd., just south of Rust Rd. 85 Command was the first unit to respond with Lieutenant Millman as officer. Sussex EOC advised one call from the homeowner advising a vehicle into her shed, with no one exiting the vehicle, and unknown injuries. Lt. Millman arrived a short time later to find a female patient out of the vehicle with minor injuries. Crews from B-85 and Medic 106 assessed the patient and obtained a refusal. Engine-Tanker 85-2's crew secured the vehicle. Command turned the scene over to DSP and cleared.

Change Your Clock, Change Your Batteries

Please remember on Nov. 4, when you set your clocks back, change the batteries in your smoke detectors. This is also a good time to vacuum your detectors to remove any dust that may have accumulated. If anyone in Milton does not have a smoke detector and needs one, contact the fire house and we will try to assist you.

Combine Fire

November 01, 2018

At 1644, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for a combine on fire on Union St. Extended just north of Milton. 85 Command under the command of Captain Tyler Clendaniel arrived within minutes to find a combine with a small fire. Engine 85-4 arrived and stretched a trash line to complete extinguishment.
