Milton Fire Co. Assist. MJ Swatt Food Services

Today, M&J Swat Food Services prepared and donated meals in downtown Milton. Milton Fire Department assisted them with delivering over 140 platters to Beebe Hospital, and Bayhealth Sussex in Milford. We would like to thank M&J Swatt for their dedication to the community.

Assist Georgetown with the Working Fire Upgrade

February 09, 2020

At 1920 hours, Sussex upgraded a fire nature unknown in the Georgetown local to a working trailer fire, bringing Milton and Ellendale to the scene to assist. Engine-Tanker 85-2 arrived third due and assisted the Georgetown crews on scene with fire supression, investigation, and overhaul. Engine 4, Tanker 85, and Rescue 85 also made the response. Crews worked just under an hour before being released by 77 Command. Lewes Engine 9 provided cover up at Station 85.

Vehicle Accident

January 17, 2020

Around 08:00 Sta. 85 was alerted for a vehicle accident at Broadkill Rd & Zion Church Rd. Shortly after Chief Harvey (85-15) arrived, and advised one vehicle in need of a door pop. Engine two arrived and made quick work extricating the patient in four minutes. Command placed the scene under control and A85 transported on patient to BMC. Units went available when ready.

Commerical Structure Fire

January 14, 2020

On January 14, at 1415 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 along with Lewes (82) and Memorial of Slaughter Beach (89) for a commercial structure fire at 12508 Coastal Highway, Snookies Speed Shop. Engine-Tanker 85-2 responded and arrived on scene at 1424 to find a commercial garage with heavy smoke showing. Deputy Chief Hopkins established 85 Command and immediately requested a tanker company assist from Ellendale (75). Crews from the Engine-Tanker, 82-1, and 89-5 stretched multiple lines into the structure, knocking the bulk of the fire in about 20 minutes. Crews remained on scene for about two hours completing overhaul and hitting hot spots. Chief Harvey assumed the command upon his arrival and Deputy Chief Hopkins was the operations officer. Asst. Chief Davis (82-20) had water supply operations. Units responding, Engine-Tanker 85-2, Engines 4, 5, Tanker 85, Rescue 85, Ladder 85, A-85, Engines 82-1, 3, 5, 9, Ladder 82, Rescue 82, 82-8, D-82, Engine-Tanker 89-5, Tanker 89, Engine-Tanker 75-8, Tanker 75-4, Medic 101, 111, DSFP, DSFM 11, 16. Engine 42-5 and Tanker 77 provided coverups.

Fire Prevention Awards

Tonight, the Fire Prevention Committee held our annual fire prevention awards at HOB School. This event allows the committee to award students for fire prevention essays and projects submitted. We also had several students win awards on a County and State level. Congratulations to all the winners.

Vehicle Accident

Just as crews were getting ready to head out for our last Santa Run, 85 was alerted for a vehicle accident at the intersection of Milton-Ellendale Hwy. & Gravel Hill Rd. Engine-Tanker 2 arrived within two minutes to find a two vehicle accident with mutiple patients wanting to be evaluated. Engine-Tanker 2 and the Rescue crew secured the vehicles and assisted the EMS crew with patient care. All patients refused transport. Asst. Chief Dotterer (85-17) had the Command.

Milton Police Officer Chavez, Delaware Police Officer of the Year

The officers and members of Milton Fire Dept. would like to congratulate Milton Police Officer Chavez for being named Delaware Police Officer of the Year (one of 3) for his actions during a hostage situation earlier this year. We appreciate Officer Chavez, and all the members of the Milton Police Department.

Assist 77, Structure Fire

Today, crews responded to Georgetown to assist them with a structure fire. Crews from 77 had a good knock on the fire at our arrival, we assisted them with extinguishment and overhaul. Units responding from Milton, Engine-Tanker 85-2. Engine 4, Rescue 85

Busy Day for Milton Crews

December 07, 2019

Today, Milton crews kept busy with various events. Crews attended the Ocean City, Maryland Christmas parade with Engine 5 and the Command unit. While at the parade, crews back in Milton assisted the Lewes Fire Co. with a shed fire on Cave Neck Rd. After the OC parade was over, Santa jumped on his sleigh and flew to Milton to catch a ride on Rescue 85 to the VFW / Milton Police Department kids Christmas party. After partying with the kids for a bit, Santa jumped back on Rescue 85 and taken back to his sleigh so he could attend the Lewes Christmas parade. Engine 85-5 and the Command unit also attended the Lewes parade. Milton crews also handled a small brush fire just after lunch time that was held to Engine 85-4 and the Brush unit.
