Tunnel to Towers 5K

Today, our very own Allen Jackson participated in the Tunnel for Towers 5K at the Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes. Ladder 85 was also on hand assisting with the flag detail.

Live Fire Evolutions

November 04, 2023

Saturday, 11/4 Milton Fire along with Lewes Fire, Indian River Fire, Memorial Fire, and South Bowers Fire conducted live fire evolutions in an acquired structure outside of the town limits. Crews were able to train on Engine and Truck company operations before burning the structure down completely. Thank you to Past Chief Davis of Lewes Fire and crew for burning for us. Thank you to Little Creek Fire (Squad 54) for covering our district and handling two fire runs while we trained! Membership opportunities are available! Water Rescue

November 04, 2023

Sunday, 11/5 Milton Fire handled a water rescue on the Broadkill River. Crews rescued two people from the water. One patient refused medical service and one was transported to a nearby medical facility.

Chief Hopkins Installed as the President of the Sussex County Chiefs Assn.

October 24, 2023

Tonight, Chief Hopkins was installed as the 2024 President of the Sussex County Fire Chiefs Association. His wife Dawn was on hand to pin Johnny with his Presidents badge. The members and officers would like to wish Johnny good luck for a productive year.

Fire Prevention Month

This month, members have been busy delivering fire prevention presentations at the various schools and daycares.

911 Day

October 12, 2023

Today, Deputy Chief Millman and Assistant Chief Millman, along with Engine 85-3 attended 911 Day and the Sussex County EOC. 911 day is a community event held by Sussex County to showcase the 911 center, County Paramedics, and various first responder agencies throughout the County.

Residential Fire

October 12, 2023

Just before Midnight, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 along with Ellendale (75), Lewes (82) and Memorial (89) for a residential structure fire on Rosemary St. in Primehook Beach. Asst. Chief Millman (85-17) arrived to find nothing evident with a reported odor of smoke in the residence. 85-8 arrived began an evaluation of the interior of the structure. Engine 85-3 arrived as the first due engine and assisted Deputy 85 with investigating the interior. Engine 75-3 arrived as the second due engine and investigated the crawl space under the home. Crews found no smoke or fire throughout the residence. Asst. Chief Millman placed the scene under control and returned all units when ready. H.O. Brittingham Trunk or Treat

Tonight, members participated in the HO Brittingham School Trunk or Treat. Crews passed out candy and fire prevention supplies, and showed off the new engine.

Engine Company Cover Indian River Fire

Engine 85-3 provided an Engine Company Cover to Indian River Sta. 80 while they operated on a residential structure in The Pines @ Long Neck community

Mason Conoly Receives Firefighter Shield

Tonight, after the Company Meeting, Fire Chief Hopkins presented Probationary Firefighter Conoly with his Firefighter shield. Mason has finished his rookie book and has met all the qualifications to come off probation. The membership voted at tonight's company meeting for promote Mason to a full fledge member. Congratulations Mason.

MVC in Town

At approximately 0400, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for a MVC at the intersection of Broadkill Rd. & Union St. Engine 85-3 arrived to find a two vehicle accident with no entrapment. 85-8 arrived a short time later and assumed Command. Ambulance 85 arrived and checked all vehicle occupants to find no injuries. Fire police assisted Milton PD with traffic control. Command placed scene under control and returned units. Units responding, E-3, Rescue 85, 85-8, 85-00, A-85, DSFP, Milton Pd.

Duty Crew

Today the duty crew handled multiple emergency calls including an MVC involving a school bus. Crews also trained on VES to end the day.

Assist 89 / 42, MVC

October 04, 2023

Just prior to lunch, as members were working on various tasks around the Station, Carlise and Memorial Fire Cos. were alerted to an ALS MVC on Coastal Hwy. in the area of Argo's Corner. After a brief discussion, Chief Glasco (89-15) permitted Engine 85-3 to respond as part of the "staffed engine mutual aid agreement". Engine 85-3 arrived shortly after Ambulance 89 to find a moped down in the roadway with one patient. Ambulance 89 and Medic 111 had the patient loaded in the ambulance. The patient was eventually transported by ground to Bayhealth Sussex in Milford. Units responding, E-3, B-89, A-42, C-42, Rescue 89, Rescue 42, Engine 42, Traffic 42, Medic 111, Medic 101, Trooper 2, DSP, DSFP.
