Automatic Crash Notification

September 10, 2023

Just prior to midnight Milton Fire was dispatched to Coastal Hwy in the area of the Broadkill Bridge for an automatic crash notification. 85-8 arrived to find a vehicle on its roof with no occupants in or around the vehicle. Crews searched the area for occupants which was negative. Units cleared the scene shortly after. Assistant Chief Millman held the command.

Structure Fire

September 01, 2023

Milton Fire assisted Lewes Fire on a structure fire this morning. Engine/Tanker 85 operated as the third engine, Truck-85 operated as the second special, and 85-8 assisted at the command post. Crews operated for approximately one hour before returning to service.

Busy Day for Milton Fire

Today Milton Fire hosted a Chicken BBQ Fundraiser, attended the Bargains on the Broadkill event, hosted our annual Public Crab Eat, and handled a fire alarm. Thanks to MIllsboro Fire for providing coverage throughout the day.

Delivery of Engine 85-3

Today Milton Fire took delivery of our new engine. Projected inservice date is September 16th at 08:00. Stay tuned for further information.

Tour of Bayhealth Total Care

August 15, 2023

Today crews toured the new Bayhealth Total Care Hospital in Harbeson. Crews took time to preplan the facility for any possible emergencies that occur. Lewes Fire will be dispatched along with Milton Fire on any structural responses at this facility.

Engine 85-3 Weekly Update

August 11, 2023

This week, four members of the truck committee traveled to Florida for final inspection on the new engine. We are looking forward to the unit being in Milton within the next two weeks.

Residential Structure Fire

August 07, 2023

Tonight, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 along with Ellendale (75), Georgetown (77), and Lewes (82) for a residential structure fire on Duroy Circle, in the Shipbuilders Village Subdivision. Engine-Tanker 85-2 arrived on scene initially with nothing evident, with their own hydrant, and stretched a handline to the "A" side. Ladder 85 arrived at the front of the building and took the first due special. Engine-2s crew found a small fire in the attic from a possible lightening strike. Crews extinguished fire and completed searches that were negative. Crews remained on scene for a short time. The State Fire Marshall is investigating. Asst. Chief Cranford had Command.

Passing of William H Smith

It is with the deepest regret and sympathy that we announce that life member, engineer, and superintendent of supplies, William H. Smith “Bill Henry” of the Milton Fire Department Inc., has answered his last alarm on Saturday July 29th, 2023. Bill Henry was recently recognized for his 50 years of service award. His service included superintendent of supplies, chief engineer and assistant secretary. In his 50 years, he rarely missed a Tuesday night meeting at the fire hall. Bill is survived by three daughters, Tracy McLamb and husband Donald, Jennifer McKean and husband Michael, and Katie Shockley and husband Scott; their mother, Donna Smith; five grandchildren, Hannah, Kelsie, Melanie, Thomas and Grayne; his canine companions, Labradors Lux and Maggie; as well as numerous cousins, extended family, and friends. A full fireman’s funeral will be held on Saturday August 5, 2023, at 12pm at Shorts Funeral Home, Milton. Prior to the funeral services a viewing will be held starting at 1000 hours. Departments wishing to attend are asked to utilize their department's uniform and a meet at the Goshen Church Parking lot at 1045, located at the corner of Federal St. and Mulberry St. A representative from Milton Fire Department will provide further direction there. Residential Fire

Milton Fire assisted Georgetown Fire on a residential fire. Engine/Tanker 85 arrived and investigated. Truck-85 arrived next and assisted as needed on scene. 77CM placed the scene under control a short time later and held the response to 85 and 77 units.

Vehicle Accident w/ Rollover

July 19, 2023

Milton Fire handled this vehicle accident at Coastal Hwy and Broadkill Rd. EMS units obtained two patient refusals. Assistant Chief Millman held 85 command.
