Bayhealth Total Care Open House

Crews attended the grand opening and open house of the new Bayhealth Total Care on Route 9 in Harbeson.

Residential Fire

July 09, 2023

Milton Fire along with multiple mutual aid departments were dispatched to the 12000 block of Isaacs Rd for a residential fire. 85-8 arrived to find a one story single family residential building with nothing evident. Engine/Tanker 85-2 arrived as the first engine and investigated. Crews found a small extinguished fire in the kitchen and quickly reduced the box to 85 units only. Truck-85 arrived as the first special and set up ventilation. Crews operated for approx. thirty minutes before clearing. Chief Hopkins held 85 command.

Automatic Fire Alarm

Engine/Tanker 85-2 & Truck-85 responded to assist Lewes Fire on a fire alarm as part of the staffed engine response agreement. Engine/Tanker 85-2 arrived as the second engine and Truck-85 arrived as the first special. Crews operated for a short time before returning to service.

Tonight, the duty crew trained on box alarm responses, hose stretching, search, and incident command. The training was led by Asst. Chief Millman and Captain Nauman.

Staffed Rescue Assist Sta. 82

June 30, 2023

At 1346, Sussex EOC alerted Sta. 82 for a MVC at the intersection of Hopkins Rd. & Fisher Rd. Rescue-85 was staffed and responded as part of the staffed unit MOU. Rescue-85 arrived to find a two vehicle MVC with minor injuries. Command 82 arrived and established command. Rescue-85 assisted as needed before being released by command.

Vehicle Accident w/ Entrapment

June 30, 2023

Milton Fire responded to Coastal Hwy & Deep Branch Rd for an MVC. Crews arrived to find a two vehicle MVC with one patient confined to the vehicle. Engine 85-5 and Rescue-85 extricated the patient. A-85 & B-85 transported one patient each to Bayhealth Sussex. Coastal Hwy was closed throughout the incident. Asst. Chief Millman held 85 command.

Vehicle Accident w/ Rollover

June 30, 2023

Milton Fire along with SCEMS and Delaware Trooper 2 were alerted for a vehicle accident in the area of 24119 Sylvan Acres Rd. Crews arrived to find a vehicle approx. 100 feet off the roadway in a field. One patient was out of the vehicle and eventually was transported to Bayhealth Sussex. Crews secured the vehicle and cleared shortly after. Chief Hopkins held 85 Command.

Vehicle Fire

June 27, 2023

Today as crews were sitting down to lunch, they received a ring on the intercom advising them of a vehicle fire in front of the fire house. Crews immediately notified Sussex. As the call was being alerted, crews in station responded with Engine 5 and made quick work of the fire. Incident is under investigation by Milton PD. Chief Hopkins had the Command.

Staffed Rescue Response to Lewes

June 26, 2023

At 1452 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Lewes (82), Rehoboth (86) and Sussex County EMS (paramedics) for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Coastal Hwy & Devon Rd. Rescue 85 responded as a staffed apparatus. Rescue 85 arrived as the second due rescue and was assigned to set up a landing zone for Lifenet 2. Crews also assisted EMS with patient care. Rescue 85 operated for about 30 minutes before being released to return to Milton.

Residential Structure Fire

At 1321, Sussex alerted Station 85 along with Lewes (82), Ellendale (75) and Memorial (89) for a house fire on Front Street, just outside of town limits. 85-8 and Engine-Tanker 85 arrived within a minute to find a single family home with a burning odor reported by the homeowner. Crews from the Engine-Tanker stretched a line and checked the home. Engine 82-2 arrived and their crew assisted with checking the interior of the home. Crews found no smoke or fire, and no odors upon fire department arrival. Command placed the scene under control and returned all units. Units responding, Engine-Tanker 85, Engine 85-5, Engine 82-2, Engine 75-3, B-85, A-89, Medic 111, Medic 104.
