Mason Conoly Receives Firefighter Shield

Tonight, after the Company Meeting, Fire Chief Hopkins presented Probationary Firefighter Conoly with his Firefighter shield. Mason has finished his rookie book and has met all the qualifications to come off probation. The membership voted at tonight's company meeting for promote Mason to a full fledge member. Congratulations Mason.

MVC in Town

At approximately 0400, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for a MVC at the intersection of Broadkill Rd. & Union St. Engine 85-3 arrived to find a two vehicle accident with no entrapment. 85-8 arrived a short time later and assumed Command. Ambulance 85 arrived and checked all vehicle occupants to find no injuries. Fire police assisted Milton PD with traffic control. Command placed scene under control and returned units. Units responding, E-3, Rescue 85, 85-8, 85-00, A-85, DSFP, Milton Pd.

Duty Crew

Today the duty crew handled multiple emergency calls including an MVC involving a school bus. Crews also trained on VES to end the day.

Assist 89 / 42, MVC

Just prior to lunch, as members were working on various tasks around the Station, Carlise and Memorial Fire Cos. were alerted to an ALS MVC on Coastal Hwy. in the area of Argo's Corner. After a brief discussion, Chief Glasco (89-15) permitted Engine 85-3 to respond as part of the "staffed engine mutual aid agreement". Engine 85-3 arrived shortly after Ambulance 89 to find a moped down in the roadway with one patient. Ambulance 89 and Medic 111 had the patient loaded in the ambulance. The patient was eventually transported by ground to Bayhealth Sussex in Milford. Units responding, E-3, B-89, A-42, C-42, Rescue 89, Rescue 42, Engine 42, Traffic 42, Medic 111, Medic 101, Trooper 2, DSP, DSFP.

Commerical Fire

October 02, 2023

Milton Fire was dispatched to 122 Broadkill Rd the Family Dollar for a reported building fire. 85-11, Engine 85-3, Engine/Tanker 85-2, and B-85 all responded. 85-11 arrived to find a large one story strip with nothing evident and Deputy 85 established 85CM. Engine 85-3 arrived, split laid from the Walgreens and assumed the first due engine assignment. Engine/Tanker 85-2 arrived, completed the split lay, and assumed the second due engine assignment. Crews found no smoke or fire throughout the building and believed the odor was from festive decorations. 85CM then placed the scene under control and returned all units when ready.

Engine 85-3 provided a regional cover up at Lewes station two while units operated on a commercial fire. 85-8 was on scene and Deputy-85 operated as 82 command.

September 18, 2023

Milton Fire along with multiple mutual aid departments responded to Fisher Rd for a reported residential fire. 85-8 arrived to find a one story single family type 5 with nothing evident. Engine 77-4 arrived as the first engine and extinguished a small fire in the kitchen. Engine/Tanker 85-2 arrived as the first special and completed searches. The scene was quickly brought under control and command held the response to the units on scene. Assistant Chief Millman held the command.

Engine 85-3 Officially Inservice

Milton Fire is proud to announce that Saturday September 16th, our new 2023 Pierce Saber engine was placed inservice. This unit seats six firefighters, has 1,000 gallons of water, multiple hand lines and various other firefighting tools. Yesterday, crews responded to multiple emergencies throughout the day including assisting Georgetown Fire on a camper fire just after midnight. Engine 85-3 arrived as the first engine and operated two hand lines. Crews operated for approximately one hour before clearing. Membership opportunities are available! Assist Georgetown, Fatal House Fire

Today, Engine-Tanker 85-2 and Ladder 85, along with our ambulance assisted Georgetown with a fatal house fire on E. Market St. Units operated for approx. two hours before returning to service. Crews back in Milton handled a MVC with assistance from Lewes Fire Co. as well.

Vehicle Accident

Rescue Company 85 was staffed and assisted Georgetown Fire on this vehicle accident. Crews secured two vehicles and assisted with patient care before returning to quarters.

Residential Fire Alarm

Milton Fire responded to the Wagamons West Shores community for an automatic fire alarm. 85-8 arrived to find a two story single family type five with nothing evident. Engine/Tanker 85-2 arrived as the first engine and investigated. Truck-85 arrived as the first special and assisted the engine crew. Crews found a faulty fire alarm system. 85 units cleared shortly after. Assistant Chief Millman held the command.
