Members staffed Engine 85-3 and Truck-85 overnight. Crews toured new buildings throughout the district in order to pre plan for potential emergencies.

Vehicle Fire

January 22, 2024

Just prior to 1700, Sussex EOC alerted Sta. 85 for a vehicle fire on Broadkill Rd. 85-8 arrived to find a paramedic unit well involved inside a carport with a second unit on fire behind the carport. Engine 85-3 arrived and led off with two attack lines for extinguishment. Rescue 85 and Engine Tanker 85-2 arrived and assisted with manpower and water supply. Command requested an engine from Sta. 75 (Ellendale) and a response from DNREC. Ellendale Engine 3 and Engine Tanker 75-8 provided additional manpower and water on scene. Crews placed incident under control at 1800 hours with units clearing at 1832. Scene was turned over to DNREC and the Fire Marshalls Office.

Outbuilding Fire

January 22, 2024

At 1548, Sussex EOC alerted Milton, Lewes (82) Georgetown (77) and Sussex County EMS for an outbuilding on fire in the Lazy Lake development. 85-8 responded and arrived in three minutes to find a 20 x 40 outbuilding with light smoke from the eves. Engine 85-3 and Engine 82-1 arrived and were assigned the 1st and 2nd due engine assignments. Crews ran the 400' line to the building and found a small fire in the workshop. Crews extinguished the visible fire, completed searches, and ventilated the structure. The scene was eventually scaled back to the 85 units and 82-1. Delaware State Fire Marshalls Office is investigating. Units responding, 85-3, Ladder 85, 85-8, 82-8, 82-1, 82-4, Tanker 77, 77-2, B-85, D-91, Medic 111, EMS 100.

Commercial Fire

Milton Fire assisted Lewes Fire with a commercial fire. 85-8 acted as the chief's aide. Engine 85-3 was assigned as the RIT. Truck-85 was placed in staging and responded to a second working fire.

Residential Fire

January 16, 2024

Tonight just after 6PM, Milton Fire along with multiple mutual aid departments responded to Atlantic Av within town limits for a reported residential fire. Engine 853 arrived as the first engine and Truck 85 arrived as the first special. Crews found and secured a faulty sump pump in the basement. Command then scaled the incident back to Milton units only.

Residential Fire

January 15, 2024

Today Milton Fire along with multiple mutual aid departments responded to a residential fire in the Harbeson area. Engine 85-4 arrived as the first engine and extinguished a small kitchen fire on the second floor. Ladder 83 arrived as the first special and completed search’s which included removing a K9 from the residence. The scene was quickly brought under control shortly after. Deputy-85 had command.

2nd Alarm Commercial Fire

Milton Fire assisted Lewes Fire Department on a commercial fire. 858, Engine 853, and Truck 85 all responded. 858 arrived and assisted at the command post. Engine 853 operated a hand line. Truck 85 assisted as needed. Greenwood Engine 784 covered Milton while crews operated.

Milton Fire assisted Georgetown Fire on a commercial fire early this morning. Crews assisted with fire control, overhaul, and water shuttle operations. Crews worked for approx. three hours before clearing. Ellendale Fire Engine 75-3 covered Milton while our crews operated.
