First Responders Day

April 27, 2024

Today, members attended Ace Hardwares First Responder Day. Crews passed out fire prevention materials and gave tours of the apparatus. Thank you to ACE Hardware for the invite and all the support you give us throughout the year.

Duty Crew Training

April 27, 2024

Tonight, the Duty Crew toured some of the many building under construction in our district. Crews also trained on "box alarm" responses to these buildings.

Milton Fire assisted Lewes Fire on a woods fire.

Residential Fire

April 04, 2024

Milton Fire assisted Lewes Fire on this working fire. 85-16 (Assistant Chief Millman) acted as the division two supervisor. Engine 85-3 acted as the third due engine and established a RIT. Truck-85 assisted as needed on scene. Crews operated for approximately two hours before clearing.

MVC W/Injuries

March 30, 2024

Crews were dispatched to Gravel Hill Rd. in the area of Huff Rd for a MVC. 85-8 (Asst. Chief Millman) arrived to find a two vehicle MVC. EMS crews evaluated a total of seven patients. Two were transported with minor injuries. Units responding, A-85, D-85, Engines 3, 4, Rescue 85, 85-8, 85-9, DSFP, DSP, Milton Pd.

Duty Crew Training

March 30, 2024

Tonight, members of the Duty Crew completing vehicle extrication training. This in-house training allowed members of the duty crew and new members to practice with our new battery powered extrication tools and our new Junkyard Dog strut stabilization system. Thank you to Fitzgeralds Auto Salvage for supplying the vehicles and to Loblolly for use of the front end loader to stage the cars.

Career Day at Mariner Middle School

March 27, 2024

Today, fire and EMS crews attended Mariner Middle Schools career day. Members spoke with 8th graders about careers in the fire and EMS service. Sussex County EMS were also there along with the Sussex County EOC to talk about careers as paramedics and dispatchers in the County. Thank you Mariner Middle for the invite.

Fire Officer 2 Certification

March 24, 2024

Today, Chief Officers completed Fire Officer 2 training through Delaware State Fire School. Special thanks to Chief Ralph Tucker and Past Chief Derrick Harvey who covered as the Duty Chief while the officers attended class.

MVC W/Entrapment

March 22, 2024

Just after 0630 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Sta. 85 along with Rescue Co. 75 (Ellendale), Medic 111, Medic 201, EMS 100 (Sussex County EMS) and Trooper 2 (DSP) for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment on Milton-Ellendale Hwy. in the area of Marges Path. Senior FF William Wright Jr. (Freshy) was passing by as the call was dispatched and stopped to render aid. Firefighter Wright, with the assistance of the EMS crew were able to rapidly extricate the patient. Engine 85, Rescue 85, and Rescue 75 crews assisted EMS, secured the vehicles, secured a large diesel fuel leak, and secured a landing zone for Trooper 2. Trooper 2 transported one patient to Christiana ER and Ambulance 75 (Ellendale) obtained a refusal. DNREC and Millsboro Fire Dept. were requested for the HAZMAT response for the fuel leak and spill. Asst. Chief Cranford placed the scene under control and turned it over to DNREC and the Delaware State Police. Units responding, Engine 85, Rescue 85, Rescue 75, A-85, A-75, Medic 111, Medic 201, Utility 83, HAZMAT 83, DNREC, DSP, Milton PD, Fire Police, DELDOT.

Working Fire

March 17, 2024

Milton Fire along with mutual aid departments were dispatched to the area of Reynolds Rd & Deep Branch Rd for a reported residential fire. 85-16 arrived to find a shed fully involved with exposure to a second shed and a residential trailer. Multiple units arrived and completed various fire duties to bring the scene under control.

Annual Fire Co. Banquet

March 16, 2024

Tonight, members and spouses enjoyed a night off and attended the departments annual banquet. Members spent the evening having fellowship and recognizing the members who went above and beyond this year. Thanks to Little Creek Fire Co. for covering our district for the night so our members could enjoy the banquet.

Assist Sta. 82, MVC w/Entrapment

March 14, 2024

Just before lunch, Station 85 was alerted to assist Lewes (82) with a vehicle accident with entrapment on Lewes-Georgetown Hwy. in the area of Sea Spray Village. Engine 85-3 responded immediately and arrived a short time later and was assigned to set up a landing zone and assist with extrication. Milton crews remained on scene about 30 minutes before returning to Milton.
