Just prior to the 3 o’clock hour on Sunday May 23rd Sussex EOC alerted Stations 85, 75 (Ellendale), 82 (Lewes), 89 (Memorial), and SCEMS for a residential structure fire in the Deep Branch Woods community. 858, 852 and B85 all made the response in under a minute.
858 arrived first to find a two story single family dwelling with smoke showing from the D side of the building, 85-20 then established 85 command.
852 arrived next and deployed a hand line through the front door to extinguish the fire in the kitchen.
Truck 85 arrived, laddered the building and completed search’s on the first floor.
Various other apparatus arrived from neighboring departments and all worked together to complete various fire ground duties.
The scene was quickly brought under control. Crews worked for approximately 2 hours before going available.
Georgetown Tanker 77 provided a stand by while our crews were tied up.
Units responding were 858, 852, L85, 854, 855, 8510, 753, T75, 755, L82, 822, 823, 829, T89, 895, B85, A75, ME111, ME204, FM17, DSFP.
