Vehicle Fire

At 1438 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for a vehicle fire at the above address.  Asst. Chief Millman (85-19) was in the area and responded to the scene.  Assistant Chief Millman arrived to find debris on fire in the roadway behind a pick up truck.  Further investigation revealed that the vehicle driver discarded a cigarette which landed in the bed and caught trash in the bed on fire.  Firefighter Holding, along with Milton PD had removed the the debris from the truck and knocked the fire with an extinguisher prior to FD arrival.  Engine 4's crew stretched a hand line to extinguish the remaining fire while the Rescue and Engine 5's crew assisted.  Command placed the scene under control and turned it over to DSP, clearing all fire units.
