At 1326 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85, SCEMS 101, and Lifenet 2 to a serious MVC at the intersection of Coastal Hwy & Union St. Extended. Asst. Chief Clendaniel responded immediately in 85 Command. Asst. Chief Clendaniel was advised the accident involved a motorcycle and believed to be serious. Engine 85-4 responded next along with A-85. Asst. Chief Clendaniel arrived to find a two vehicle MVC with one person trapped and one priority 4 trapped under the vehicle. A-85 arrived and began patient care on the priority patient that was trapped. Engine 4 arrived next and stabilized the vehicle and began extrication. Command requested a rescue assist from Station 89. Additional crew from Rescue 85, 85-00, and 85-11 arrived and assisted with patient extrication. Rescue 89 arrived and handled the landing zone for Lifenet. One patient was flown to CER by Lifenet, the second patient was priority 4. Crews remained on scene assisting DSP with traffic and their investigation. Once complete, Command released all units.
