Just prior to 0400 hours, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 for a MVC on Cave Neck Rd. in the area of Sam Lucas Rd. 85-8 responded with Asst. Chief Millman (85-18) as officer. Sussex advised that Ambulance 85 was transporting a patient from a previous call and came up on a tree down in the roadway with a vehicle into the trees. Ambulance 82 (Lewes) and 85-8 arrived to find a vehicle into the downed tree with a single patient. 85-00 and Engine-Tanker 85-2 arrived and provided lighting to the area and secured the vehicle. C-82 transported one patient to Beebe Hospital, and Fire Police remained on scene, securing the roadway until Deldot could arrive and remove the tree from the roadway. At the time of the incident, thunderstorms had been moving through the area. Bystanders had also noted beavers terrorizing the area just after the incident. Delaware State Police in investigating.
