At 1130 hours, just as units were clearing from the previous MVC, Station 85 was alerted for a "service call" at the above address. Engine 85-3 responded immediately with Lt. Betts as officer. While responding, Engine 3 contacted EOC and was advised that the homeowner had left the home 30 minutes prior with food on the stove and he just remembered it. EOC advised the homeowner was responding back from the Milford area, and related that the owner related that the stove is probably now on fire. Engine 3 arrived with nothing evident from sides A, B, and D, with Lt. Betts (85-25) establishing Command. After completing a 360, crews found a smoke condition inside the main living area of the home. Crews forced entry into the home and found food burning on the stove. Crews extinguished the fire and vented the residence. Command placed the scene under control and returned all units. Units responding, 85-3, 85-4, B-85, DSFP.
