At 0136, Sussex EOC alerted 85 for a vehicle fire on Union St. Ext. in the area of Branch Lane. Engine 4 arrived at 0142 to find a mini van that had struck a utility pole with wires down on the vehicle and a fire in the engine compartment. Deputy Chief Clark requested the immediate response of DEC to secure power. Crews remained on scene and protected exposures until the arrival of DEC at which time, the fire was extinguished.
