At 0359, Sussex EOC alerted Milton, Lewes (82) and Indian River (80) for a house fire at the above address.  85 Command responded with Assistant Chief Clendaniel as officer.  Asst. Chief Clendaniel arrived on scene to find a garbage can on fire with extension into a garage, with the home owner taking the "first due" engine assignment with a garden hose.  Engine 4 arrived and split the crew, half stretching a line to assist the homeowner with the can, and the other half checking the extension in the garage.  With all visible fire knocked as the first engine arrived, Command scaled the response back to the 85 units only.  Engines 5 and 3 also repsonded and arrived to complete various fireground duties.  Comand placed the scene under control and cleared all units.  The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating.
