At one minute after 10, just after electric throughout the Town of Milton went dark, Station 85 was alerted to a MVC on Harbeson Rd. in the area of Diamond Horse Farm. Captain Reynolds responded immediately in 85 Command. As he approached the Milton town limits, he advised Sussex EOC that all electric was out and to contact Delmarva Power for an ETA. As members arrived to the Station, it was noted that the Departments generator had failed and the Station was without power. Asst. Chief Clark, after immediately determining that significant effort would be needed to open the bay doors for a response, requested a Rescue assist from Station 77. Captain Reynonds arrived on scene to find a tractor trailer had rolled over onto its side, striking a electric pole and bring several wires down. The driver was out of the vehicle and uninjured. Crews were able to open the doors and make a response with Engine 3, Engine 4, Rescue 85, and Ambulance 85. As units arrived, the area was secured, driver was checked and refused treatment, and crews remained on scene providing traffic and scene control until the arrival of Delmarva Power and Deldot. Power in the area was out until approximately 0530 the next morning. Units responding, Engine 3, Engine 4, Rescue 85, A-85, Rescue 77, Medic 104, DSFP, DSP, Deldot, Coastal Towing.
