Just after midnight, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85 along with Lewes (82) and Slaughter Beach (89) for a barn on fire at the above address. 85 Command arrived within four minutes of dispatch to find a hog barn with fire showing. Engine 85-4 arrived first and was advised to pull an attack line to the door on side "C" and begin fire attack. Engine 85-5 and Engine 85-3 arrive next with Engine 5 being tasked with pulling a line into side "d" to cut off fire spread, and Engine 3 laying a supply line from Broadkill Rd. back to the fire ground. Ladder, Tanker, and Rescue 85 all arrived and sent crews up to establish an manpower pool. The crew of Engines 4 and 5 make quick work of the fire knocking down the bulk within a few minutes. Mutual aid companies arrived and assisted with overhaul. Command scaled back to the 85 units who stayed on scene hitting hot spots and assisting the FM unit. One Milton Firefighter sustained a minor injury and was transported to Beebe Medical where he was treated and released. Assistant Chief Hopkins had the Command.
