At 1243, Sussex EOC alerted Station 85, Medic 104, and DSP Trooper 2 for a MVC at the above location. A-85 and Assistant Chief S. Carey (85-19) responded almost immediately. Sussex EOC advised units of multiple cars involved with one rolled over, possibly one person trapped, and possibly one car on fire. Asst. Chief Carey arrived within two minutes and established 85 Command. Command reported one vehicle on fire with no entrapment. Engine 85-4 and Engine 85-3 arrived next and began extinguishment of the fire and securing the vehicles. Rescue 85 arrived and assisted A-85 with patient care and packaging. Asst. Chief Clark arrived and assumed Command, requesting an additional ambulance from Slaughter Beach (89). Medic 104 and the Trooper 2 medic assessed the ALS patient and determined they would go by ground. Trooper 2 advised they would transport the BLS patient since the ambulance was still several minutes out. A-85 and Trooper 2 both transported patients to Beebe. Asst. Chief Clark placed the scene under control and cleared all units. Fire police remained to assist DSP with traffic. Rt. 1 southbound was closed for a short time.
