On Wednesday, February 26, the fire prevention committee, lead by Chelsea Aydelotte, held an awards ceremony for the children within the Milton school district. During Fire Prevention Month(October 2013), members of the fire department visited local schools, libraries and daycares to educated children on important fire safety issues and the role of the fire department within the community. Children were asked and encouraged to participate in writing an essay on kitchen fires, which is one of the leading causes of home fires. Milton Fire Department was proud to recognize and award those children with excellent essays and would like to thank all the family and friends who came to support the children. A special thank you to all the firefighters and members of the ladies auxiliary who participated as well.
